International Department of No.8 High School, Beijing, China
Abstract:
The study aims to investigate the mental-health well-being of adolescent girls in Guizhou province and Beijing. Also, it was designed to compare the disparity of mental-health conditions between the adolescent girls in the two regions. A total of 148 Guizhou girls and 100 Beijing girls completed a survey in July. The survey included five psychological dimensions. Descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation) were used to measure each dimension. The findings suggest that the adolescent girls from Beijing show significantly higher self-esteem levels and stronger emotional regulation abilities than those from Guizhou Province. However, the adolescent girls from Guizhou Province exhibit lower levels of appearance anxiety, socializing anxiety, and emotional suppression. Appropriate and effective methods should be given to alleviate different mental-health issues in different regions, improving the adolescent girls’ mental conditions.
