An Analysis of College Students' "Involution" Phenomenon from the Perspective of Marx's Theory of Human Spiritual Needs

Abstract:
With the development of higher education, college students have become a vital reserve force for social-economic construction. In reality, however, driven by competitive pressure and a-single-dimensional evaluation criteria, many students are trapped in “involution”. Obsessed with competing for external outcomes, they neglect their own spiritual needs, which gives rise to anxiety, confusion and other psychological problems. From the perspective of Marx’s theory of human spiritual needs, this paper sorts out the manifestations of involution and explores the deep-seated causes underlying the alienation of spiritual needs. Involution hinders the healthy development of college students and deviates from the goal of all-round human development. Adopting the methods of literature research and theoretical analysis, this study examines the phenomenon of involution and puts forward corresponding countermeasures, so as to ease college students’ spiritual distress and facilitate their free and all-round development.
